Secured Socket Layer
All of the data sent to and pulled from the database is encrypted using a SSL (or security certificate). This is the same feature that protects customer data when ordering and paying online via PayPal, or when using some other payment gateway. Only the intended users and receivers have the “code to crack” the encrypted information. Once the transmission or transaction is completed, the data ceases to be available electronically in any form by others using the Internet.
Access from anywhere
As long as financial advisors and their associates have access to the Internet, users can be in multiple locations including anywhere in the world and receive emails, update account information and print reports. (Wireless capability may be required.)
High level of security for the server and the network
The server is located in a non-disaster prone area (not subject to hurricanes, earthquakes and potential terrorist attacks.) The facility itself is considered a Level 3 structure with multiple levels of security and system redundancies. Access to the physical facility is limited by keys, badges and hand scanners. Dual power grids ensure electricity when a major grid fails. Gas powered generators can run indefinitely in the event there are wide-area grid failures or brownouts. Multiple communications lines enable virtually instantaneous rollover in the event providers’ services are interrupted. Hardware and software protect against viruses, spamming and intrusion attempts. RAIDED hard drives, incremental daily tape backups, full weekly backups as well as remote server backups ensure rapid recovery if hardware failures occur. The server itself is a UNIX box (presenting formidable administrative problems for hackers).
